Data Engineering Senior Manager

Job Description

As Senior Data Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of dedicated professionals to provide Data Engineering and Integration services.  Your team will have responsibility for data architecture, data modeling, data engineering, data governance, data integrations, and master data management.  This position requires a strong technical and leadership skillset.  Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the team's performance and driving impactful outcomes.   

Job Responsibilities

• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within your team.  

• Provide strategic direction, support, and mentorship to your team members, enabling them to excel and contribute effectively.  

• Lead cross-functional collaboration to define and analyze intricate data requirements, translating them into innovative technical designs.  

• Spearhead the design and execution of modern cloud-based data integration and data warehousing solutions.   

• Shape comprehensive data governance strategies and frameworks, upholding the highest standards of data integrity, quality, and security.   

• Establish and maintain robust master data management processes and systems that resonate throughout the organization.   

• Drive the optimization of data warehouse architectures, encompassing meticulous data models, schemas, and ETL processes.   

• Evaluate and endorse suitable cloud-based technologies, tools, and platforms.  

• Continue to “sharpen-the-saw” and stay informed of industry trends and emerging technologies.    

• Engage seamlessly with cross-functional teams, effectively addressing their data integration, date modeling, and business intelligence requisites.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

• Proven leadership and management experience, with a track record of motivating teams towards excellence.  

• Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking aptitudes.  

• Outstanding communication skills and interpersonal finesses, suitable for collaborating across diverse teams and providing clear guidance.  

• Strong capability in managing multiple projects and deadlines concurrently, while maintaining top-tier quality.  

• Solid understanding and technical proficiency in data architecture, data modeling, data integration, data warehousing, data governance, ETL tools and frameworks, SQL, dimensional modeling, database performance optimization, and master data management concepts.  

• Good understanding of cloud-based data engineering, data integration, data warehousing, and business intelligence platforms (e.g., Azure Logic Apps, Azure Data Factory, Power BI, Power BI Fabric).  

Education and Certificates 

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.  

• 8+ years of related technical experience. 

• 5+ years of leadership or management experience.  

Physical Requirements 

• Sedentary work, requiring lifting up to 10lbs.  

• Repetitive motion associated with operating a computer and other office equipment.   

• Inside, climate-controlled working conditions.
